We are proud to be an ISTD Approved Centre providing our students with the opportunity to gain the Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education.
What is DDE?
DDE or (Diploma in Dance Education) is a Level 4 regulated qualification by Ofqual which can obtain you 120 credits and can be completed over the period of two years. Level 4 is the same as the first year of studying for a university degree.
It is the right of passage of every student who wants to become a fully qualified teacher with the I.S.T.D. It shall test the student in both physical and academic work which will be conducted over the period of their course, due to the framework of the tutors qualified and the I.S.T.D guidelines. You will leave with a plethora of knowledge and deep understanding of your chosen genre as well as understanding the pathways within dance teaching.
The DDE is split into a total of 5 units and are equally balanced between theory and practical. You are able to complete the theory work distantly and there will be homework tasks set in order for you to gradually achieve this. Should you secure employment/college opportunities then you would also be able to gain completion through Zoom meetings with your tutor.
Upon completion you will be prepared to teach within classes and enter children for examinations (in the genre you studied) up to the level of Intermediate.
Requirements
Experience in the genre you wish to study in.
Intermediate qualification in the chosen genre. If you do not hold this then this can be studied alongside your DDE training.
You will need to be aged 17 to enrol on our DDE learning platform and 18 to take the practical examination.
A studio where you can complete Unit 2, observing, assisting and teaching.
Your Tutor
Declan Morgan is a fully qualified F.I.S.T.D. (Fellowship) Teacher. He trained at Performers College on a scholarship, allowing him to secure placements on various cruise ships and musicals that toured the world. After working professionally for many years Declan decided to complete his teaching training with the ISTD
Declan is a passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable tutor and is excited to guide the next generation of teachers through their DDE training in a positive and nurturing environment.
